About Yamastro
Built by people who have stood on factory floors
Yuma Shimizu founded Yamastro in 2022 after a decade in manufacturing IT — working with production engineers at automotive and industrial suppliers to digitize process data. The gap he kept seeing: factories with 20-year-old PLCs and 5-year-old ERP systems, still using spreadsheets to calculate OEE.
The software that existed was either too complex (full MES requiring 18-month implementations), too generic (US-centric SaaS not designed for Japanese factory conventions), or too narrow (SCADA dashboards without traceability or alerting). Yamastro was built to fill that gap — pragmatic, PLC-native, and designed with Japanese manufacturing vocabulary.
Our founding story, design principles, and why we built a Tokyo-based manufacturing intelligence company instead of joining the US SaaS export trend.
